My Writing & Editing
I Was Born to Write
I've been a writer most of my life. During my teen years I kept a journal. Later I wrote, edited and published newsletters for our church and our homeschooling group with my husband Alan.
We took over a website, ncubator.com, from a colleague in 1998. It grew from a handful of writers to more than 40 contributors.
But Illness Got in the Way
In 2003, my ME/CFS symptoms were so bad that we closed down our website. That was it until 2009 when I ventured back on to the Internet. I knew working online was all I could handle because of being ill. Alan built me this site and I started writing about ME/CFS.
Healing Begins and Writing Returns
Over the next few months, I began to see my writing world expand, starting with this website, ncubator.ca (named in a surge of nostalgia for our old website) and my blog. From there, I began writing for Phoenix Rising and EmpowHER.
Writing and Editing Since 2009
I have been writing for EmpowHER since April, 2009. I started doing photo work in October, 2010. I became an editor in August, 2011.
You can find articles that I've written on EmpowHER via this link and this one is my profile page with my most recent articles on it. I also have a section of EmpowHER articles specifically about ME/CFS here.
I've been writing, editing and publishing articles and adding images for Phoenix Rising since October, 2012. You'll find many of those articles here
Medical E-books Since 2010
I have written two medical e-books for a doctor who has a practice in New York.
First-person Writing
I've had an article published on Senior Planet. I had an article published on Animal Wellness which was also published in their magazine.
I've written articles with word counts ranging from 250 words to 2500. I've written blog posts, and articles from a first-person perspective. Many of these have been about my experience as a mother, as a grandmother, as a baby boomer, as a person with ME/CFS and as someone who deals with health issues of all kinds.
Clinical Writing
I have done research for and written articles related to health, many of those dealing for instance with food, medications, alternative healing and supplements. I have interviewed individuals who deal with or have overcome physical and emotional obstacles and challenges, and I have written articles about them.
I'd Like to Write for You
If you need something written or edited, and you'd like someone with strong language skills and a way with words to go to bat for you, feel free to contact me. I'm located in Ontario, Canada but I've been involved with people all over the world. While most of my clients have been U.S.-based, I am always interested in expanding my horizons.
