No Money, No Health?

The sick ones I worry about most have no money. And no prospects of getting any. What can they do to regain their health and their lives?

They live in an ugly cycle of bad health and poverty. They can't work and hence cannot earn a living. Some of them qualify for disability but don't be deceived, lots of them don't qualify. And even the lucky ones on disability are not as lucky as they may seem at first glance.

For many, the disability income is not nearly enough to live on. Certainly it is not enough to ensure proper diet and medications or supplements to bring them back to real health again.

And so they live in a limbo world, where they struggle to get by, month to month. Paying their bills as best they can, and when the money runs out ... they cut back in the only areas they can cut back on. The food that they eat, the medication or supplements that they need.

If money for these things isn't there, they do without. Not once, not occasionally, but on a regular basis. And their frail health continues to fade. Their hope wanes. And the condition that has them bound and down for the count gains more ground.

The worse the health, the greater the need for more money in order to heal. But for many who are chronically ill, this is just not an option.

The special diets that will build up their bodies are expensive. The medication that would help to correct the condition ... out of reach. The supplements that would right the imbalances... might as well be on the moon.

And the anxiety and despair that this situation engenders sucks the life out of them. This can go on for years. For decades. Forever. While they hang on by a thread and wonder if relief will ever come.

What is the answer to this half-life that so many are living today?

    Do you know?
